Navigating the ups and downs of the dairy market is challenging. But for Katie Burgess, helping clients work through those challenges is what she enjoys most about her job.
“Most every day, there is something new happening in the dairy market, and so I find it interesting because it’s a fast-paced, exciting environment to work in,” Katie says.
Katie works as a Director/Risk Management on the ever.ag/Blimling and Associates team based in Madison, Wisconsin. Her daily routine has her advising customers on markets, formulating risk management strategies, executing orders, and selling Dairy Revenue Protection insurance to producers – to name just a few.
After a few years working as an agricultural agent for the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension, Katie came across the opportunity to join the Blimling team. She was thrilled to work with teammates that shared her passion and dedication to agriculture.
“Most of us have some sort of connection to agriculture or are very passionate about the industry,” Katie says. “I think that’s an important part of why our team has been so successful in helping our clients.”
“It was a new offering in the industry. We had never seen crop insurance adopted so widely across the dairy industry,” Katie says. “Within just a few years, we built a customer base from 0 to over 100 customers today.”
The commitment to helping dairy producers and commercial clients remains the driving focus for Katie and the entire ever.ag and Blimling teams.
“I enjoy helping clients make sense of all the ups and downs we see in the market and help them manage risks so they can ensure some profitability for their business,” Katie says. When Katie is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family; husband, Mark, and her 14-month-old son, John.
